Donation

Istanbul Health and Technology University Library, operating within the university, accepts donated publications in order to support education and training at the university, to contribute to research and to develop the library collection in line with the cultural needs of users.

Istanbul University of Health and Technology decides on the appropriateness of donated resources in accordance with the collection development principles by obtaining opinions from relevant experts when necessary. Istanbul University of Health and Technology Library has the authority and responsibility to decide which of the donated resources will be added to the collection.

  • Individuals and institutions wishing to make a donation should send a list of donated publications (book title, author name, ISBN, year of publication, publishing house, donor and date of donation) to our library by e-mail in advance.
  • The Library is not responsible for the announcement and listing of donated materials.
  • The library materials to be donated must comply with the basic principles of collection building of Istanbul Health and Technology University Library. Publications;
    • The content of the resource complies with the Constitution of the Republic of Turkey, the Laws and the Higher Education Law,
    • The language and content of the resource is appropriate to the education and research programs of Istanbul Health and Technology University,
    • Appropriate physical condition of the source,
    • Up-to-date printing/publication date (most recent editions of textbooks)
    • The integrity of the binding in multi-volume works,
    • Materials must be original and undamaged,
    • If it is a periodical, it is important that it fills in missing issues in the existing collection.
  • After accepting the donation, Istanbul Health and Technology University Library has the right to decide whether or not to digitize these materials, whether or not to include them in the collection, where and how they will be exhibited, how they will be cataloged, under what conditions library users will be entitled to benefit from them, and how they will be lent.
  • Istanbul Health and Technology University Library has the right not to use, store, donate to other institutions or destroy materials that do not comply with its requirements and service policy. Donors fill out the "Library Donation Form" to accept the conditions.
  • If the person/institution wishing to make a donation has expressed a preference to take back the materials that Istanbul Health and Technology University Library cannot use in the collection, the obligation to take back these materials belongs to him/her.
  • Istanbul University of Health and Technology Library has the right to refuse to receive materials that require special treatment or to have them conserved.
  • A separate section is not organized for the donated material in the library. It is placed in the general collection according to its classification number.
  • Publications received by mail are evaluated and processed within the scope of the donation policy.
  • The priority of adding materials to the collection belongs to the resources purchased under the Library Acquisitions Policy. Donated materials such as books etc. are processed in this context and added to the collection after the technical procedures are completed.
  • People who wish to make a donation are asked to fill in the "Library Donation Form". A copy of the "Library Donation Policy" is given.
  • Natural or legal persons who make a donation accept the provisions set forth in the Library Donation Regulations.
  • Newspapers, newspaper promotions, brochures, etc., publications that are not physically clean, unused, torn and missing pages, written / scribbled publications, magazines without single or serial integrity, materials on the subject contrary to the integrity of education, primary and high school textbooks, duplicates, lecture notes, photocopied publications, etc. publications that show features are not accepted as donations to the library collection except in exceptional cases.
